Bringing History to Life: Education Through the Arts & Engagement Through Public History

Our events are found below and on our social media: Facebook and BlueSky.

Friends of St. Luke, Odd Fellows, and the Household of Ruth is committed to community-centered educational initiatives that invite participation from people of all ages. We meet children and families where they are—through hands-on table activities at local festivals and museums—and create welcoming spaces for learning, conversation, and creativity.

In collaboration with local high schools, we will offer a writing competition that uplifts student voices and supports emerging writers through mentorship and monetary awards. A community-wide art event will invite participants of all ages to engage creatively with historic sites across the region, strengthening connections between place, memory, and art.

Volunteers play a vital role in preserving our shared history by helping capture rapidly disappearing primary source materials and recording community memories from near and far. We will also sponsor virtual presentations by public history professionals, working in partnership with other museums and historic sites to broaden access and deepen dialogue.

Together, these efforts reflect our belief that history belongs to the community—and that preserving, interpreting, and sharing it is a collective act. We look forward to a year shaped by collaboration, creativity, and care.
